The Ries Brothers, a dynamic duo blending rock, blues, and reggae, are making waves under SKP, the forward-thinking label founded by Nick Hexum of 311. Their latest single, “Destination Unknown,” is set to make an impact beyond the music world—featured in the upcoming groundbreaking feature film Plight, which stars an all-autistic cast. This collaboration marks a powerful intersection of music and cinema, amplifying authentic storytelling and representation. The Ries Brothers will be playing the song live at the film’s premiere, hosted by Academy Award winner Sean Baker (Anora) this evening in Los Angeles.
Director of the film, Matt Boda, says “As a filmmaker, I’m drawn to stories that challenge convention and take the risks Hollywood too often avoids. With Plight, we set out to do something groundbreaking—a feature film led by an all-autistic cast as its central heroes. Written by Ron Sandoval, Plight follows four young men on the spectrum navigating a fractured world in search of life-saving medicine for their caregiver. It’s a story of survival, resilience, and hope—told with authenticity by actors who live the experiences they portray.“
