chart-topping singer-songwriter Alex Warren made an electric MTV VMAs debut, performing a medley of global #1 smash “Ordinary” and Billboard follow up hit “Eternity,” and winning the award for Best New Artist.
Backed by a nearly 50-person marching band and gospel choir, Warren delivered a performance that “was anything but ordinary” (Cosmopolitan). Launching into an energized rendition of “Eternity” and closing with “Ordinary,” Warren’s soulful vocal stood out, with Billboard praising the performance as “mesmerizing.” Both songs appear on Warren’s debut album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid released in July.

Earlier in the night, the 4x nominee walked the VMA red carpet in Armani with wife Kouvr Annon, where he was surprised with the news of his Best New Artist win.
“This is mine?! My heart…I truly did not, thank you so much. What the?” Warren reacted with pre-show cohost NESSA. “I don’t even know what to say to you right now. I’m about to cry. This is amazing. Thank you so much!” Watch the moment HERE.
Released in July to critical acclaim, Warren’s full-length debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart and dominated globally, already staying within the Top 5 for 7 non-consecutive weeks. “Ordinary” was just named Billboard’s 2025 “Song of the Summer,” reigning atop the Hot 100 for 11 non-consecutive weeks and counting over 1 billion streams. The single also spent five weeks as #1 across the Global 200 and Global 200 Ex US, and made Warren the first male soloist to earn an initial Hot 100 #1 this year.
To celebrate the release of You’ll Be Alright, Kid Alex will embark on a 15-date extension of his headline Cheaper Than Therapy Tour to additional U.S. cities through October.
